According to the publication, packaging makes up less than 3% of all the UK's solid waste and that more than 60% of all packaging is recycled, dispelling its widely held image as a significant contributor to landfill levels.

Jane Bickerstaffe, director of the Industry Council for Packaging & the Environment (INCPEN) and member of ACP, said: "Packaging in perspective answers some of the frequently heard questions about packaging with clear, factual information.

She added: "It may be more than you ever wanted to know about packaging, but unlike some of the things you may hear and read, it is accurate".
