Go Inspire said the restructure was initiated to boost 4DM’s profitability and better align the operation’s work mix within the group.

The 30-day consultation at 4DM was launched yesterday (20 February) and the group anticipates that the consultation will impact 28 roles within the firm’s workforce of 135 staff.

The Go Inspire group includes GI Solutions, Eclipse, GI Insight, Eclipse 4DM, Go Inspire (previously Direct Link) and Paperplanes – none of the other group companies are involved with the consultation.

Go Inspire chief executive Patrick Headley said that following the acquisition of the Eclipse group of companies last February, the group had begun to look at the group offering across GI Solutions and Eclipse 4DM to better balance the operations.

“We have basically changed the mix of work at 4DM, it was doing a lot of charity door drops and similar work, and we’ve refocused the business since we put the new digital press in along with some new enclosing kit, and, I’m afraid, with increased automation comes reduced need for headcount,” said Headley.

Last October Eclipse 4DM installed an HP PageWide T230 Web Press at its Kettering site. The PageWide had previously been running at GI Solutions.

Since acquiring the Eclipse companies, Go Inspire has invested circa £1m in Eclipse 4DM, which has sales of around £10m.

In total, the Go Inspire group of companies have combined sales of around £83m and a headcount of circa 600.
