GMG ProofMedia studio OBA semiMatte 200 is a lightweight substrate with a flat matt surface designed for proofing in the publication printing market, specifically those printed on coated material containing optical brightening agents (OBAs).

The latest addition to the GMG ProofPaper range replaces the semiMatte light due to increasing use of OBAs, according to the manufacturer. 

GMG Color's UK marketing manager, Amy Young, said: “It was formulated to create a close simulation of the thickness and coating of publication and packaging printing on OBA media.

"It’s ideal for proofing magazines and brochures, as well as packaging such as offset folding cartons or paper wrappers containing OBAs.

"We've moved with industry trends and enhanced our previous ProofPaper semiMatte light in order to bring customers this new media with the addition of OBAs.”

SemiMatte 200 is available in 35m rolls in widths of 430mm, 610mm and 1.12m and is compatible with GMG ColorProof 5.11.2 and GMG OpenColor 2.3 proofing software.

Pricing is not currently available for the substrate, which will be available to order from 1 December, and Young said until then customers should contact the UK office for quotes.
