Duplo took on the UK dealership for EskoArtwork's Kongsberg range of cutting tables in June.
According to Gilmex managing director Matthew Palmer, the Woolwich-based company has evolved since investing in digital printing, leading to the requirement for the Kongsberg.
He said: "Since purchasing our first Xerox digital press, our business has evolved greatly, as has the print market itself. We have always tried to stay one step ahead of the game, and with die-cutting this is the one area all digital printers struggle to justify bringing in house.
"Before making our decision to purchase, we looked into the volume of work we were previously outsourcing, and while not huge, we knew by widening our offering we could win much more work."
Since installing the machine, the company has added tabbing to its list of services. Gilmex used traditional tabbing machines, which only offered a standard die. Thanks to the Kongsberg it has been able to personalise tabs.
Having moved into digital print in 2010, Gilmex added digital finishing in December last year thanks to an initial £200,000 investment in finishing equipment from Duplo.
The company was one of four shortlisted for this year's PrintWeek cross-media company of the year award, announced last week.
