Having spent 21 years on Bull Street, the Birmingham-based firm, which specialises in variable data printing, repro and mailing services, moved to Barford Street in Digbeth just before Christmas. The 650sqm premises, which keep the company in close proximity to key clients, are over three times larger than the firm’s former site.
Genie Printing managing director James Brown said: “Our business has primarily changed to much higher volume production monochrome variable data and because of that we’ve grown our mailing business. We have expanded into wide-format printing, specifically same-day reprographics, CAD plotters and architects drawings for the construction sector.”
“We definitely needed at least double the space that we had as the business had outgrown its original premises. We’re very happy with the move so far, all of our customers have moved across with us without any difficulties,” he added.
The company, which has a turnover of £650,000, has also invested in new equipment. It bought tab cutting, plastabbing and reinforcing machines from the administration sale of the recently closed Birmingham bookbinders and print-finishing firm Henry Mills and now offers these services to the trade.
The firm has hired an extra employee to run the tab cutting equipment, bringing the total number of staff to seven.
Genie Printing moves to bigger premises
Genie Printing & Mailing has moved to a new location on the edge of the city centre after outgrowing its former premises.
