Local on-demand production platform Gelato has integrated with Amazon US, enabling e-commerce sellers to boost their business.

The company said the new collaboration, currently available to merchants selling on the Amazon US marketplace, enables creators to connect their stores in minutes and sell and distribute their products through Gelato, without the hassles of managing inventory, production, or shipping.

Amazon commands nearly 40% of the US e-commerce market, processing 66,000 orders globally every hour, and 60% of its sales are generated by independent sellers, presenting a major opportunity for creators and e-commerce entrepreneurs to expand their reach.

Gelato founder and CEO Henrik Müller-Hansen said: “The Amazon x Gelato integration helps empower the global creator economy by coupling the world’s largest online marketplace with the world’s largest network for production on demand.

“Amazon’s vast reach and Gelato’s robust network of local makers gives anyone the opportunity to scale their business in a way that is better for people and the planet.”

Sellers’ orders are produced and delivered across local production hubs and distributors in the US, closer to the end customers, which Gelato said speeds up delivery times during the busiest time for e-commerce, so that sellers can sell for a longer window of time while packages still arrive on time for, as an example, the holiday season.

Gelato said that with its tools, sellers can design and launch products ranging from wall art and calendars to tote bags and sportswear in minutes. Once an order is placed, Gelato takes care of production, shipping, and delivery.

Gelato told Printweek that expanding Amazon integrations to additional countries is a priority for the business, with the UK high on that list. It added that while the current integration is set up for the US market, creators and e-commerce sellers based in the UK or other regions can already use it to reach US customers.

The business also recently revealed its integration with TikTok Shop US and UK, allowing creators and e-commerce sellers to offer products directly on social media platform TikTok.

At Drupa, Gelato and Landa Digital Printing unveiled a new collaboration between both parties, said to leverage Landa’s Nanographic print technology and customer network, and the GelatoConnect global software platform for the delivery of on-demand, short-to-medium run, digitally printed jobs.
