A statement from the company said Garnett, who previously worked at St Ives Group as managing director of direct marketing, would head Garnett's direct marketing operation as it looked to further enhance its existing capability and add to its service reach.
Garnett said: "As clients’ communications continue to develop we recognise the importance of a comprehensive range of complementary services, creating data driven campaigns which add value across all relevant channels to maximise marketing effectiveness and return on investment."
Maxted has worked in print sales for over 17 years, for companies including Polestar, Quebecor and St Ives. He most recently worked as sales director for BGP, and left due to redundancy after Polestar restructured the salesforce there after it acquired the business.
"There’s a real gap in the print market for someone like Garnett Dickinson, so they’re an exciting business to join," he told PrintWeek.
GD Group chief executive Nick Alexander said: "We are delighted to welcome both Carl and Ian to the business. They both bring with them a wealth of varied experience and the management team looks forward to drawing on this to help continue taking the business forward in print, mailing and direct marketing services."
