The new headquarters, which covers more than 2,780sqm of floorspace, has been built with sustainability as a core part of its construction, and has won an ‘excellent’ BREEAM environmental accreditation for the site.
The site has 80 rooftop solar panels and is capable of generating up to 63,000kW of electricity per year - an effective saving of 29 tonnes of CO2 annually - and can sustain its own operations on a sunny day.
Andy Kent, Fujifilm Graphic Communications UK’s divisional manager, said: “It’s important for us all – at an individual and corporate level – to take steps to protect the planet.
“Our new UK headquarters further demonstrates Fujifilm’s commitment to sustainability across our business, and we look forward to developing our approach and innovating for a sustainable future from Fujifilm House.”
Fujifilm also worked with the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire, one of its corporate charity partners, to keep the environment around its UK HQ site as habitable as possible for plants, wildlife and animals.
Measures taken in the construction include using permeable slabs in its car park to prevent flooding and maintain a superior soil health than if it were covered with tarmac.
Fujifilm likewise followed the Trust’s advice on biodiverse landscaping, planting flowers and plants to maintain habitat and installing bird feeders, bat boxes and bee hotels around the site.
Fujifilm recently announced strong results for its inkjet business in the first half of 2022.
