The upturn in work led the 23-staff firm to take delivery of the four-station stitching line with cover feeder in a bid to eliminate finishing bottlenecks.
Foundry Press operations director Alan Houlison told printweek.com: "Our old Prosetter 455 was around 11 years old and it slowed things down at that end."
He said the firm's digital battery, coupled with the 10-colour perfector, had allowed it to carry out more varied run lengths.
"Before we'd be doing 1,000-run jobs, now we're looking at 5,000 upwards.
"It's very quick to set up and it's making us more productive. A job that would previously take two days to complete is now only taking one," said Houlison.
The FSC-certified company, which also runs a Stahlfolder and Polar guillotine, is paying for the Stitchmaster through a five-year consumables deal with Heidelberg.
