Former Sidders owner passes away, aged 83

Stanley Sidders, a third generation of family-owned London printer Samuel Sidders & Son, passed away last week, aged 83.

Stanley died on 5 May and will be best remembered as an active member of the Young Managing Printers (YMP) in the 1950s and 1960s, attending every congress, his son Stephen said.

Later, Stanley was also a committee member of the London Region of the British Federation of Master Printers, which later became the BPIF. He inherited Samuel Sidders & Son from his father Leonard and steered it through transition from letterpress to litho.

With son Stephen, who is a founding director of Maidenhead-based litho and digital printer Reliant Colour Solutions, Stanley sold the family business as a going concern in 1985 to Drydens Printers.

Stanley's life will be remembered at a Service of Thanksgiving at St John's Church, Farnham Common, Buckinghamshire on 19 May at 2.30pm.
