The plug-in, called SendToVIP, does exactly that and sends native Adobe InDesign files straight to VIP, without having to create a PostScript file.
"The plug-in represents a massive enhancement over previous methods of page transmission," said FMG marketing director Dominic Duffy.
"By communicating directly with the VIP system, SendToVIP recognises the individual user, makes available only the relevant workflow queues and, upon receipt of InDesign page data, automatically associates image and font information before creating a print-ready PDF."
Duffy said the software would improve communication between publishers and pre-press staff, allowing greater control.
