Previously covering 33,000sqm the show has expanded to incorporate the Messe’s Hall A2 bringing the total floor space to 37,000sqm, due to what Fespa chief executive Neil Felton called "unprecedented" demand.
The exhibition has so far sold 600sqm more than Fespa Digital 2011, which took place in Hamburg, and by October last year exhibitors had already booked 5% more floor space than Barcelona's 2012 event. With more than four months left until the event begins, there is still potential for it to expand a further 12%, according to the event organisers.
Felton told PrintWeek: “The majority of clients are taking more space and we have never had as many new exhibitors before. On every single metric you can talk about, we are seeing an increase in demand.”
He said that textile printing in particular, was proving to be a major source of demand for floor space. The event organiser also claimed the Munich show would be one of the most innovative to date, “due to the top quality feature content and live demonstrations”.
Felton said: "On the back of a phenomenally successful Fespa 2013 in London, and with a long track record of high-performing Fespa events in central Europe, we believed that our return to Munich would attract a great deal of interest from suppliers, and we're delighted that the take-up is set to exceed our expectations.”
Meanwhile, digital printing kit manufacturers KIP and Mimaki are the latest exhibitors to become ‘Platinum Partner’ sponsors of the Munich event.
Mimaki Europe general marketing manager Mike Horsten said: "Fespa is one of the most important events for the industry, which is why we've chosen to sponsor Fespa Digital 2014 on all levels.
“In addition to being a Platinum Partner, we're also a Silver Sponsor for the Fespa 2014 Global Summit, where we hope to further support and disseminate the message that education is a prerequisite in this industry,” he added.
In a statement KIP said: “This event is the ideal location and platform for KIP to exhibit our latest colour printing technology to an educated audience.”
Felton added: “Our sixth Fespa Digital show is the perfect environment for KIP and Mimaki to gain traction with an extensive, international community of wide format printers.”
