Fall kills workman at Tullis Russell's Glenrothes warehouse

A contractor has died at Scottish paper manufacturer Tullis Russell's Glenrothes warehouse after reportedly falling nearly 100 feet.

The fatal accident took place on 29 September at the warehouse on the Southfield Industrial Estate where the man was working.

Tullis Russell has issued a statement and a message of condolences to the worker's family.

A spokesman for the company said: "Tragically we can confirm that on 29 September there was a fatal accident at our warehouse facility in Glenrothes involving a contractor.

"Safety of all staff working on this site is always of paramount importance and an immediate inquiry has been launched into the circumstances surrounding this accident."

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and local police are currently investigating the incident.

It is understood that the event and the ongoing inquiry has caused disruption at the warehouse, although Tullis Russell was unable to comment further at this time.
