The Longier Hunter FR-3900 UV LED flatbed and roll-to-roll printer, has a 2,500mm x 1,534mm print width and can print on media up to 100mm deep. I
t uses up to 14 printhead sets to enable high-speed - up to 70sqm/hr - yet low-heat printing with six colours, plus white ink and a varnish option. The ink system includes one-litre refillable containers.
A separate RIP and print console configuration boosts user efficiency by ensuring a rapid workflow, according to supplier Quality Print Services (QPS).
The machine is currently being built and due to be installed at Evans Graphics in mid July, where it will run on Nazdar digital inks.
Evans Graphics' managing director Steve Tilbury said of the kit that cost about £100,000: “We can produce just about anything that needs high-quality digital output on to all manner of substrates.
“The new table will strengthen our ability to further print on to acrylics with the assurance the ink will out-perform everything else in the market.”
Founded in Maidenhead in the early 1970s, Evans Graphics offers wide-format display graphics, exterior signage and industrial labelling to mostly B2B clients. The 30 staff make a £2m turnover.
The Longier complements existing UV capability: Evans Graphics runs a 3m x 2m Tekwin TS600, a Tekwin Tekstorm, a Flora/Dupon Cromaprint hybrid machine and a Mimaki UJF.
“I did look at other kit, but am convinced the ultra-low running costs and capability of this new Longier will more than meet our current and future demands.
“I have a long-standing relationship with UK distributor Gary Hall and confidence in their ability to configure and support the new table.”
He added: “I specifically chose the Longier table as it gave us a 14-head capability including a superb white facility.
“It comes complete with roll-to-roll printing, which will complement our existing solvent-based roll-to-roll print capacity.
“We first saw the Longier FR3900 Hunter at a Hallmark Equipment Service demo suite in Great Gransden and knew then there was something good in prospect.
“With a clean laydown of ink, zero banding and impeccable ink-to-substrate curing, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to take one of these new tables on board.”
