The EU Commission has extended the investigation into SCAs acquisition of Metsa Tissue for four more months.
It has been dissatisfied with the undertakings that SCA had provided as part of the sale and purchase agreement.
SCA president and chief executive Sverker Martin-Lf admitted: "If it gets turned down at the second phase we will have to take a serious look at whether the deal will go through at all."
