The investment follows the firm's search for a laminator suitable for digital print work.
"Fuser oils in toners used in many of today's printers can prevent adhesion," said Encapital managing director Fin Hegarty. "Combine that with heavy coverage and the curl and wave in the paper, giving feeding problems, and digital can be a nightmare."
The Proteus overcomes these issues in conjunction with D&K's SuperStick film. The Xerox certified stock penetrates the fusing oil and keys directly to the paper's fibres.
The sub 50,000 B2 Proteus, capable of 3,000sph, was purchased from D&K's stand and delivered today, the day after the show finished. "Part of the deal was that I wanted the machine straight away," explained Hegarty.
