Duplo's Horne passes away

Duplo International technical manager George Horne has died at the age of 73.

Despite being past retirement age, Horne was still working as technical manager at Duplo up to nine months ago when he underwent treatment for a tumour.

Horne spent 45 years in the industry, servicing Europe, the Middle East and Asia, and was a veteran of more than 10 Drupa shows.

Robin Greenhalgh, chairman at Duplo, said: "He has touched many people with his marvellous dry humour. A specialist in finishing, there were few secrets he hadn't mastered.

"He will be missed by many people from all over the world."
