Dubbins government warning

GPMU general secretary Tony Dubbins told this weeks TUC Congress in Brighton that the government had to implement real fairness at work right now if it wanted to have the support of working people at the next general election.

And the GPMU received overwhelming support for its motion calling for the disposal of the statutory union recognition threshold of 21 or more staff, according to deputy general secretary Tony Burke.

Burke also participated in the Congress manufacturing and learning and skills debates, while Dubbins put the unions weight behind the TUC General Council statement supporting entry to the eurozone.

Chancellor Gordon Brown and CBI director Digby Jones also made speeches to the conference.
