Domino's 950BK MOF ink is manufactured using vegetables and as such is non-hazardous and sustainable and has natural biodegrable properties, which assists in de-inking during recycling.
Andrew Gunton, product manager - fluids at Domino, said the ink had been developed in response to the 2011 mineral oil scare, which focused on the potential health risk from mineral oils present in the recycled cartonboard used to make food packaging.
"The growing concerns about the potential health risks for consumers from mineral oil-based ink contamination is now far too serious to ignore," he said. "We have therefore taken a proactive stance by developing an environmentally-friendly mineral oil-free ink for our C6000 outer case coding solution.
"This gives brand owners and manufacturers complete peace of mind that their food products will remain free from mineral oil contamination."
