The paper and board merchant said it has built on the Bescot-based conversion plant with investment in systems and restructuring to enable the launch on Monday (4 September) of the Reel Fast Express Sheeting Service.
The company said Reel Fast is a service available to customers in the commercial print, publishing, and packaging sectors, delivering customised sheet sizes from Denmaur’s range of sustainably certified cutter reel stock within five days from receipt of order.
Centrally located in the West Midlands for full UK coverage, Denmaur said the Reel Fast plant delivers mill standard quality in terms of finishing and presentation for all conversion jobs from newsprint paper weights through to high-caliper packaging boards.
Denmaur director Andy Buxton said that offering customised sheet sizes at the Bescot facility as an alternative to the off-the-shelf standard would reduce customers’ costs as well as their waste and carbon emissions.
“Although it’s possible to order a specified sheet size direct from the mill, average lead times can vary from 4-6 weeks. The Reel Fast service will ensure sheeting and delivery within five days from receipt of a customer’s order.”
Denmaur marketing and sustainability director Danny Doogan told Printweek the company will be using the Pasaban converting machines which were part of the Middleton purchase for the service. These machines have a live connection capability directly with the manufacturer while Denmaur also has its own in-house qualified maintenance team and a machine room on site.
Denmaur said Reel Fast builds on its value-added service, as well as its expanding sustainability programme. So far this year, the business has reached the milestone of 150,000 tonnes of Carbon Balanced Paper sales, offsetting paper production emissions through the World Land Trust’s REDD+ based projects.
In June it registered it’s near-term carbon reduction target with the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) – a 46% reduction by 2030, with a net zero date to be confirmed by the end of this year.
Doogan commented: “Reel Fast will deliver credible cost savings and it can also quantify the waste and carbon saved over an equivalent standard sheet size – information that customers are increasingly demanding.”
The Reel Fast plant is certified to FSC, PEFC, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards, as are the papers and boards dedicated for cutter reel stock. The same papers and boards are also stocked in standard sheet sizes for next day delivery throughout the UK.
Denmaur said Reel Fast will launch with FSC certified and Carbon Balanced stock, while the paper waste resulting from the sheet conversion process will be automatically collected and compacted into secure containers for recycling back into the paper and board industry, making the whole process waste-free and circular.
