The German group's 50,000sqm plant at Speke will become the biggest UK printer running Dalim pre-press technology, with 12 Twist workflow servers, Mistral online management and Dialogue soft-proofing.
Installation of the system is currently under way. Although the exact value of the purchase is being kept under wraps, it is understood to be the biggest-ever deal for UK supplier Turning Point Technologies (TPT).
TPT managing director Steve Emerson (pictured) said: "This is fantastic news for us. Twist is well-established as a gravure workflow but Mistral is a new technology."
Emerson said that Prinovis' decision had been influenced by its use of Dalim software at its Nuremberg plant, where "rigorous" testing of the new elements was now completed.
Prinovis Liverpool director of operations technology Steve Whitehead, who was poached from Polestar to oversee the development, described Dalim's software as "reliable and efficient", adding that these elements were both "crucial for large-scale production".
The plant is due to print supplements for News International's newspapers from 2008.
