Version 5 has been rewritten from the ground up to be faster and simpler to configure and administer.
A new user interface combining and simplifying the 162 tools it provides, and providing more pre-configured workflows, has ensured simpler operation. It will also be JDF through and through.
On top of a JDF-based Twist, Dalim marketing director Gee Ranasinha promised a JDF tool that will upset a lot of manufacturers.
While the company continues to develop Twist, it is focusing its attention on where it sees the next big production challenge.
Its about introducing clients into the equation, said Dalim marketing director Gee Ranasinha. Customers want to get more involved in the process.
This is the technology for people whove done workflow and are looking for the next step, said Steve Emerson, managing director of Dalims UK distributor Turning Point Technologies. So many companies are getting near print ready PDFs that they need to go into the next step approval and tracking.
Mistral, which is based on the core technology Dalim and developed as Ficelle, is already in use by several UK firms involved in magazine print and repro, including Colour Systems, Friary Press and Keene.
Soft proofing software Dialogue, which Ranasinha described as soft proofing for everyone has been repositioned. The OS X and Linux software now starts from under 5,000.
Ranasinha described the need for Printempo as due to the merging of CSR and production roles following the automation of pre-press. The JDF-based software handles job submission, pre-flighting, approval and imposition.
