The family-run Castleford-based company said it has seen its business recover significantly over the last three months, not only through additional work from existing clients but also new business from several public sector and blue-chip companies such as Leeds City College, Wakefield District Housing, Superdry, and Specsavers.
The company’s turnover for its 2020-2021 financial year was £705,000, while its target for 2021-2022 is £850,000.
CSDPrint managing director Stephen Harrison said: “We have been in business since 1987 and I’ve got to say the last two years have definitely been the most challenging. Like many in our sector we tried to adapt as quickly as possible to the impact of the pandemic but now we feel a definite stability returning to the market.
“Being relatively lean and having an experienced, multi-skilled team we were able to switch to producing a whole range of new printed products including safe distancing signage, portable sanitiser dispenser stations and sneeze screens of all shapes and sizes. I’m glad to say we are now back to producing our normal range of promotional print items and signage.
“Some sectors have picked up much more quickly than others. We are very fortunate to work with a number of construction companies and property developers who are busier than ever, and also some of our education and tourism clients are ramping up their marketing activities again to pre-2020 levels.”
In the past 12 months CSDPrint has invested in new technology, including an EFI Vutek superwide-format inkjet printer that was installed in May 2021 and has contributed significantly to reducing the company’s environmental impact and has also increased its productivity.
The business, which also operates printers from Canon, HP, and Mimaki, has also just appointed two additional members of staff, taking its headcount up to 10.
Studio manager Lee Jewson has worked in design and print for nearly 30 years, most recently in the same role at wide-format printer Imageco.
He said: “It’s so good to be playing such an instrumental role in helping CSDPrint to progress. The quality of the work is exceptional and there’s a great tight knit team here.
“I’m loving the challenge of working across such a broad range of clients. One minute I can be working on the design for a single vinyl sticker and the next a point-of-sale campaign for a high street retailer with outlets across the country. It’s an exciting time for the business, there’s some very interesting projects in the pipeline.”
Liam Austin, meanwhile, has been appointed as print production assistant and will be responsible for ensuring all machines are maintained and operated in line with company health and safety policies, setting up machinery, preparing orders for print, quality checking print and artwork proofs, and reporting any print or machinery issues to management.
