In his new role, Cromack will report directly to current Lateral Group chief executive Nick Dixon, who will move to the full-time role of group executive chairman.
Together, Dixon and Cromack will drive the delivery of a multi-channel strategy for the group, which comprises Howitt, Dialogue Solutions, Data Lateral and Shift Click.
Cromack, who joined Office2office in 2008 following its acquisition of TripleArc, will also work with Dixon to develop Lateral Group's business process outsourcing strategy. He will take up the new role in January 2010.
Dixon said: "Jason brings excellent senior level industry experience to the role. As CEO of TripleArc Plc, he was very adept at raising funds for acquisitions and helped set the trend for technology-led solutions in the print management sector.
"He recognised the need for the sector to develop a broad service portfolio, including the management of customer data to deliver more effective marketing communications, and I very much look forward to working with him and utilising his skills across Lateral Group."
Cromack added: "I am excited by this new challenge and look forward to working with the outstanding management team already in place and leading them to the next stage of Lateral Group's development.
"I have admired the strategy and profitable growth that Nick and the team have delivered on over the past few years. There are significant opportunities available to companies which can deliver great customer service, cutting-edge solutions and most importantly demonstrate ROI on customer communications. I truly believe Lateral Group has an exceptional business model which performs in all these areas."
The management changes come on the back of a successful year for the £52m turnover business, which posted an EBIT of £2.1m in its latest accounts for the year to April 2009, an increase of 87% on a like-for-like basis.
Further to Cromack's appointment, Lateral Group has announced that Vincent Gidley will take up the position of managing director of Howitt. Ruaraidh Thomas will remain managing director of Data Lateral and Shift Click, and Jeremy Walters will continue in his role as managing director at Dialogue Solutions.
