Creo to launch new VLF platesetter early next year

Creo is working on a new VLF platesetter, the Manta.

Like Screens PlateRite Ultima and the Lscher Dual XPose! it will be capable of imaging two 8pp plates simultaneously.

Creos worldwide public relations manager Rochelle van Halm said: Youre very well informed. Were not planning to talk about it for some time.

Its launch is planned for the first half of next year, probably at Drupa.

Well have a number of developments at Drupa, you may see it there, she said.

When asked if the Manta would be a replacement for the Trendsetter, which is nearly 10 years old, van Halm declined to comment.

Industry sources have told PrintWeek that Odessa Offset in Crystal Palace will beta test the Manta. The firm issued a no comment this week.

[0] Creos ability to do bundling, which it says is essential to sell B2 machines, is starting to pay off.

Since it began in February it has done 15 bundle deals with the Ipagsa plate, 10 of which were B2 machines.

B2 is where the action is, and until now the B2 guys have thought Creo was out of their price range, said sales director Mark Nixon.
