Communisis buys UK's first HP T300 digital web press

Communisis is to install the UK's first HP T300 colour inkjet web press at its Leeds direct mail site.

The 762mm-wide press can print double-sided 100% variable data at its full speed of 122 metres per minute at resolutions up to 1,200x600dpi.

The £3m investment will add to Communisis's direct mail capabilities, enabling it to offer customers fully personalised multichannel campaigns – an area that it expects will pick up later in the year.

Chief executive Andy Blundell said: "This is a significant investment for us and one that we feel adds to our competitive edge and further sets us apart from our peers.

"The communications industry continues to undergo significant change and we are proud to be at the forefront of this evolution by being able to offer a truly integrated, channel neutral approach to customer communications."

The company has also become a preferred service delivery partner for the HP Exstream enterprise document – HP's platform for document creation that enables designs to be delivered through multiple channels and formats.

The news of the install came as Communisis revealed its preliminary full-year results for 2009.
