Colorgraphic Direct Response has signed up as a "charter member" at online paper buying site paperX.com.
"Paper is a big part of our costs and if we can drive costs out of it that has to be good for business," said Colorgraphic managing director Alistair Ezzy. "Were looking at where we can make savings and be smarter in the way we do business, for example holding stock. I dont think weve really yet grasped how much it will do for us."
Ezzy added that paper accounted for approximately 30% of costs at the Big Flower-owned group, whose European wing has sales of around 100m. Its existing suppliers include Alliance Paper, StoraEnso and James McNaughton. "I dont want to put our existing relationships at risk, but if the trial works thats the way well move," he said.
PaperX.com has also recruited former StoraEnso magazines division sales director Paul Venediger, who takes on an equivalent role at the dotcom. PaperX.coms UK launch event was targeted at web offset printers and major paper buyers. "We have a broad remit to introduce cost savings to a great number of people," he added.
