Under the contract, Checkprint, which is part of the Tall Group, provided Nationwide branches with 2.3m cheques in 2013, the equivalent of around 78,000 chequebooks.
The contract also includes the CPAS-accredited security printer’s Customer Auto Replenishment Service as well as the provision of one-off cashback payments to Nationwide’s mortgage customers.
“In the cheque and credit world we would lay claim to be the leading provider of specially printed cheques and credits and as a company, Checkprint continues to innovate in order to provide the industry with the most up-to-date solutions while delivering exceptional value to our customers. This is a key factor behind the contract extension and the company’s ongoing success,” said Checkprint managing director Martin Ruda.
According to Ruda, while the extension wasn’t subject to a competitive tender process, Nationwide looks at alternatives at each renewal to test the market.
Nationwide head of payments and service strategy payments Paul Horlock said: “Checkprint has provided Nationwide with a number of valuable services over the past 17 years, which has helped us to maintain our position as the market leader. Therefore it was a logical choice to extend our partnership for another five years.”
