Alistair McIntosh, the Normanton-based company, has been mentioned as a possible target.
Its managing director, Steven Oates, declined to comment, but one acquisitive group said rumours had been circulating, and thought "a lot of the independent print management companies may be thinking, after the Centurion acquisition, that now is the time to get a good price".
Alistair McIntosh has more than 200 staff at 13 UK sites, including London, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Bristol and Chester. It has annual sales of 50m and clients include Asda, Bradford & Bingley, Pearl Assurance and GUS Home Shopping.
Communisis bought Centurion Press last week (PrintWeek, 17 May).
