Capital moving to new 10m facility

Capital Print is in the throes of moving to a 10m, 12,500m2 print facility in Stratford, East London.

The site will be fully operational by the end of June, when all staff from the firm's three London sites will be brought under one roof.

The large-format litho, screen and digital printer is planning an aggressive expansion programme on the back of the move.

Three new sales staff, who all had stints at St Ives Direct DisplayCraft, have been recruited, with further additions to the production and sales teams expected in the coming year.

David Carey, business manager for sales and marketing at Capital and one of the new recruits, would not reveal the sales targets for the new team. But he said: "Our owners have high expectations."

Carey has joined the company after a three-year stint at Surrey-based printer ACL Group and 37 years at DisplayCraft.

Russell Tookey joins from the Leicester printer GreenShires, but had previously worked at DisplayCraft, while Jace Evans joins directly from DisplayCraft.

Further additions to the sales and production staff, are also planned, although details are yet to be finalised.

The move sees the consolidation of the firms three buildings, on a site in Bow, to the single new building in Stratford. Planning permission for the Stratford site was granted last February.

The current site will be disposed of. Carey said: "We are moving machinery as we speak. By the end of June, everything will be completely finished. We will then have open days for clients to see the new facilities."
