The move to its Mansfield site is expected to take place in October, following a £17m investment in the Nottinghamshire operation last year. The affected roles are in production, client services, service delivery and IT.
At Holly Lane 35 employees will lose their Birmingham jobs and will be invited to apply for 22 roles available at Mansfield.
A Capita Document & Information Services spokeswoman said: “Every attempt will be made to redeploy or relocate affected employees from the print production business. In the event that this is not possible, we will discuss alternative arrangements, which could include redundancy.
She added: "Our print production business has grown significantly and this is to meet client demand. The enhanced technology at Mansfield means that clients will benefit from having more print options available to them."
Divisional managing director of Capita document and information services David Lockie, told PrintWeek last year that the Mansfield site would “massively increase our capacity, allow us to both migrate existing outsourced work and win more new business as part of our overall strategy,”
He added: “Clients will be able to see the end-to-end efficiencies and genuine business benefits to both their inbound and outbound capabilities.”
The 8,450sqm facility features the first two Xerox Impika colour inkjet web presses installed in the UK. The iPrint Evolution and iPrint Reference presses have a 474mm print width, 1,200x600dpi maximum resolution, 3pl to 13pl drop size and can print one- or two-up simplex or duplex.
The Holly Lane site will not close. Capita plans to move employees from its Complete Imaging’s Minworth site in Birmingham to Holly Lane once it is vacated.
Capita bought Complete Imaging in December last year.
The spokeswoman added that the company is developing this business, which sells and leases hardware, such as printers, photocopiers and scanners.
Capita has also recently invested in a 1,200sqm warehouse for Capita’s managed print services business and a 16,440sqm facility for its inbound mailing business, including digital mailrooms, storage and scanning.
Capita’s Document & Information Services wing currently has sales of around £115m.
