The Aberystwyth-based company has invested in a 10-unit Rapida 106 with KBA's DriveTronic simultaneous plate changing system.
Cambrian's £6m spend, which also included a Heidelberg XL press bought 18 months ago, was aided by a grant from the Welsh Assembly Government.
However, this latest investment marks the business' first foray into one-pass printing and, according to managing director and chairman Robert Read, will help solidify the company's future.
He said: "It would be foolish to suggest that we are in a strong position, but we are certainly in a stronger position than many and this investment will help us build on that.
"We have been extending more into the colour market and this is an interesting development for the business. If it is successful, we could be looking to continue in this kind of investment."
Installation of the Rapida 106, which operates at around 17,000sph alcohol-free, will begin at the end of December and Cambrian expects to begin using it in February next year.
Although the running speed impressed Read, he stressed that the main reason for buying the KBA was the makeready time, as Cambrian specialises in short-run work.
The company predominantly operates in the journals and magazine sector, although with the new press it said it may expand into other sectors.
Cambrian currently employs around 100 staff and is expecting to record a turnover of more than £7m this year.
