BSkyB takes bigger sport and movie titles bi-monthly

BSkyB is overhauling its Sky Movies and Sports magazines, dropping the frequency to bi-monthly.

The rejig includes increasing the number of pages from 40 and 44 to 60 pages (56+4pp), plus the physical size of the magazines will also increase to 265x210mm for Sky Movies and 297x230mm for Sky Sports.

Robert Tansey, Sky director of brand marketing, said: "Our commitment to offering publications that focus on the passions and interests of our customers means we’re able to maintain engaged readerships of scale, which is good news for customers and advertisers alike."

The new formats will also include more editorial features. A spokesperson for the company said the aim was to "move away from the listings type format".

He added that despite the change in frequency Sky "remained committed to these products".

Sky's flagship Sky Magazine underwent an overhaul last month increasing frequency from 10 to 12 issues a year and adding a further 20 pages.

According to the spokesperson, the changes to the sport and movies magazines will be the last for the "foreseeable future" and other magazines such as Sky Kids will not see any changes.

Sky's magazines are printed by Prinovis.
