BPS increases automation with GAE buy

The British Psychological Society (BPS) has increased its automation with a Horizon BQ270 perfect binder from Graphic Arts Equipment.

BPS' in-house print site in Leicester runs on a small staff of five and the department is gearing up to boost efficiency to take on more work.

Print manager Hitesh Sharma said: "We are not a very big team so the fact that operators can move from one piece of equipment to another, especially in the bindery, is very important.

"We currently produce around 20,000 perfect-bound books per year for our membership. This may increase now that we are using the new system."

The JDF/i2i-compatible single-clamp autoset perfect binder has a cycle speed of 500 books per hour; set-up is controlled by an "intelligent" touch-screen interface. Standard features include automated cover scoring and job memory storage.
