The BPIF is "on course" to register all printing and packaging firms that have signed up to its Climate Change Levy (CCL) scheme (PrintWeek, 25 August).
So far 85 companies - a mixture of both BPIF and non-BPIF members - have registered for the scheme, which aims to reduce the government's energy levies on the printing industry by 80%.
The original deadline for applications was 12 November, but BPIF director of corporate affairs Mike Hopkins said the DETR was so overwhelmed that it had "relaxed the deadline a little".
"All we need to do is sort out the remaining few
individual company agreements," Hopkins added.
"The pressure is off, but the sooner we sort these last few firms out, then they can all start benefiting from 1 April 2001," he said.
