Crennell, who started in the role last Monday (8 January), has worked for both large and SME organisations, most recently in the print and packaging industry with Elanders and Harrison Packaging.
BoxWay Packaging Group was established in 2021 after Saica Group sold its sheet plants in Peterlee, Telford, and Exeter. The Telford plant was closed in 2022 but BoxWay continued to develop and invest in its two remaining operations.
Last summer, the business reached the final stage of its two-year investment programme, during which it invested almost £3m.
Crennell commented: “I am absolutely thrilled to be joining BoxWay Packaging Group at this tremendously exciting period in the company’s development. I am very much looking forward to leading, supporting and driving the business in this next phase following further very recent and wise investment to improve production capabilities at both the Peterlee and Exeter sites.
“With a talented and highly experienced workforce across key areas of the business alongside some exceptionally loyal customers, we are extremely well-placed to grow significantly and sustainably over the coming years.”
CEO Andrew Woollard added: “Bryan is joining BoxWay Packaging Group at a significant stage in the company’s growth, and I am thrilled to welcome him on board.
“Bryan will be central to driving the next phase of the group’s development, following our significant investment programme. With full responsibility for the leadership and development of BoxWay Packaging Group’s UK businesses, now well into their third year of evolution, Bryan will play a pivotal role in the company’s ambitious goals of driving profitable sales growth.
“This investment programme, since its commencement in 2021, has seen the comprehensive development of our infrastructure, including finance, IT, HR and design, the widening of the company’s capability and increasing its capacity.
“We have developed of a new supplier network, enhanced our customer relationships and increased our portfolio of high-quality, design-led products and services for businesses across the UK.
“Bryan brings a wealth of experience in supplying the food, beverage, household and healthcare markets and has a strong skill set with an excellent reputation for leadership. I am very much looking forward to working with Bryan to achieve the challenging goals we have set.”
Together with group finance director Nick Forrest and Woollard, Crennell will form a new board of directors who will lead BoxWay Packaging Group through the next phase of its development.
