Bond runs along Skyfall train

To coincide with the release of the latest James Bond film Skyfall on DVD an entire nine-carriage train was wrapped and internally branded for a special invite-only journey on Saturday 16 February from Kings Cross to Edinburgh.

What did the job entail?

Several months’ work involving Aura Graphics, East Coast Mainline, MGM, 20th Century Fox and the James Bond 007 franchise. It all culminated in the train, the first to be named after a film, leaving from a rebranded platform 007 from Kings Cross at 08:33 on the Iconic Flying Scotsman route to Edinburgh for the press launch of the DVD and Blu Ray.

How was it produced?
The wrap was digitally printed at Aura Graphic’s Lowestoft site using one of its HP Scitex TurboJet printers onto 3M VHR180 Rail Specification film and laminated with 3M 639 Anti-graffiti laminate. Around 1000m2 of graphics including window decals and interior decoration were used on the project.

What challenges were overcome?
In the final week designs were changing very late and with lots of parties involved in the designs and the event, managing them and expectations was important. Production and installation took five days and the quality demanded was exacting. Another big challenge was a very tight application time with Aura Graphics finishing at 5am,  just hours before the launch.

What was the feedback?
Premier PR senior account director Leigh Debbage said: "The Skyfall Train launch was a huge success! The train looked absolutely fantastic and it was down to the hard work and dedication of all the Aura Graphics team that it was such a phenomenal success in the media and on the web."
