Blue moves to supersite following an 82% increase in turnover

Blue Printing is moving to Harlow, Essex, with a 2m investment in a 4,645sqm "super-site", following an 82% increase in turnover.

As part of the spend, Blue has also bought a second-hand KBA 10-colour B1, two second-hand large-format NUR 96 sheet presses and two new Océ four-colour A3 digital presses.

Previously, Blue's main facility was in East London just outside the Olympic zone.

The moved commenced at the beginning of July and is expected to complete by the end of September.

According to managing director Paul Mursell, Blue is one of the most diverse companies in the print industry.

He explained that Blue caters for digital, offset, pick and pack, B1 printing, large-format, envelope printing and also has two mailing lines.

He said: "There isn't much we can't do. The billboard market is something we had not looked at before. We are looking to get into new market places because someone will place an order for a billboard with us, and will then place an order for digital work.

"The same as someone will put in an order for business cards and also place an order for mailing. Not many printers can take on a campaign, we are striving to become known as a campaign printer."

Mursell added that his company has also taken on print management roles with DHL, UBS Bank and Littlewoods.

Blue has seen a monumental rise in recent years, achieving an 82% increase in the last year to record a turnover of £5.5m.

According to Mursell, Blue also recorded £680,000 profit and is on course for an £8.5m turnover by the end of the financial year. It now employs 96 staff.
