The commercial print house has been able to bring a raft of work back in-house, thanks to the 11,000bph machine.
Managing director Mark Cain said: "We have already picked up one regular contract for a job we would have struggled to compete on before. And as well as winning work, we are bringing jobs that we used to send out back in-house.
"In the very first week it completed two runs of 50,000 booklets so it began to pay for itself straight away. Now we are completely confident in our ability to meet the tightest turnaround times. We are also more competitive, with cost and time savings making us much more productive."
The machine includes a centre knife trimmer for two-up production. The system works from flat four-page sections and has an integral three-knife trimming station so there is no need to pre-fold into signatures or pre-trim top and tail. It is equipped with three VAC-100 10-bin PowerCollators.
Blackhammer has a Heidelberg Speedmaster 102 and a Xerox 707. It has a £1.2m turnover and 15 employees.
