The issue in question comprises eight different front covers and a mixture of gloss, uncoated and partially coated sheets to add interest and tactility. The east London company fired up its litho and digital machines for this as well as The Plant, Soda Review and Printed Pages magazines. The result, according to the judges, is “simply peerless print that has raised the bar for all of the others”.

“The samples simply sing,” chimed the judges of City Scene, Norton Rose Fulbright, Canary Wharf Christmas, and Christie’s magazines. City Scene meant sourcing recycled paper and using tints. Challenges thrown up by Norton Rose Fulbright included making it bigger while staying on budget and using image-friendly paper that still felt like uncoated stock.

Last year’s winner almost repeated the feat in 2018 thanks to “superb execution of technically challenging projects”: Emporio Armani, Eye, Gagosian Winter and Mix magazines. The latter boasts emboss and deboss touches, spot matt UV and varying material weights to highlight contrast.
