Timson, who is a repro apprentice at the folding carton manufacturer’s Bardon site, was one of thousands who entered the national competition designed to help promote the annual event, now in its seventh year.
Run by the government’s National Apprenticeship Service the event, which next year takes place between 3 and 7 March, aims to highlight the importance of apprentices to businesses in England.
Timson’s winning design was displayed at last week’s Skills Show at Birmingham’s NEC.
Speaking at the event Paul Kinsley, curriculum area manager, creative arts and media at Leicester College where Timson studies a day-release course, said: “It is a privilege to witness the incredible standard of work delivered by apprentices from across the country. I am especially proud that our print apprentice Becky has created the winning t-shirt design for National Apprenticeship Week 2014.”
Benson Group human resources advisor Louise Webster said: “We were thrilled and delighted that Becky was able to produce the winning design, the focus of which was to promote the whole concept of apprenticeships to youngsters, parents, teachers and businesses.
She added: “Apprenticeships are important for our own needs at Benson Group, but we also consider the creation of skilled operators to be positive for the packaging industry as a whole.”
