Bank of England holds rates for 10th month

The Bank of England (BoE) has kept interest rates at 0.5% for the 10th consecutive month.

In addition, the BoE announced that it would not put more money into the economy through its quantitative easing programme, having injected an additional £25bn last month.

The move comes as the UK is widely expected to have emerged from recession in the fourth quarter of the year.

Provisional GDP figures will be announced by the Office of National Statistics next month.
