Baldwin to acquire Nordson subsidiary Nordson UV

Baldwin, the press ancillaries manufacturer, is aiming to accelerate its expansion into the fast-growing digital market after agreeing the acquisition of UV curing systems supplier Nordson UV.

The acquisition of Nordson UV, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nordson, is expected to be completed by 30 June, when the company will be renamed Baldwin UV.

As a result of the deal 79 staff will become Baldwin employees, including those based at Nordson's Slough, Berkshire site.

Baldwin president and chief executive Karl Puehringer, described the move as a "logical step" between both companies.

"Adding UV capabilities to the Baldwin product portfolio is exciting, because the technology is complementary to Baldwin’s, and it will enable our customers to partner with a single source for both IR drying and UV curing on both offset and digital printing," he said.

"The acquisition expands our broad product range to further leverage our global presence to deliver value to our customers around the world, and UV curing in the inkjet printing sector will accelerate Baldwin's expansion into the faster-growing digital market."

Puehringer added that the acquisition of Nordson UV's service and consumables business, comprising lamps and parts, would further Baldwin's strategy of expanding its recurring revenue to add uniformity to the company's sales expectations.
