The east London-based POS and outdoor media printer spent more than £3m on three devices from the October 2015-launched Inca Onset X series.
One X3 has already been installed at the firm’s Manchester site, to be joined in the next few days by an X2, while a second X2 is bound for Augustus Martin's main London site.
The Onset X2 is capable of printing up to 725sqm/hr and 145 beds/hr, while the Onset X3 can print up to 900sqm/hr and 180 beds/hr. Both can handle substrates up to 3.2x1.6m in size and up to 50mm thick and can be used to produce high-quality, fast-turnaround retail graphics.
The new devices join the circa-£57m turnover firm’s remaining Onset S70 model from the Inca range, which was bought in 2010 to add to an exiting S70. One has since been “retired”.
“We’ve found the quality and reliability of the Inca platform and the Fujifilm Dimatix inkjet system to be exceptional,” said joint managing director and founder of the 350-staff firm, Lascelle Barrow.
“The new Onset X series has preserved all the rich hallmarks of its well-earned reputation, while dramatically increasing production capacity – making this investment a relatively easy decision in the end.”
Fujifilm UK managing director Keith Dalton: “Augustus Martin is a hugely respected and influential company in the UK print industry and Fujifilm is proud to be partnering with them to grow their business still further and confirm their position as a leading UK printer.
“The added production capacity of the Onset X series machines and the strength of Fujifilm’s new Uvijet OW ink range will, in combination, allow them to pass on a range of benefits to their customers, from reduced turnaround times to increased quality and reliability.”
London-based POS specialist SMP Group was the first to install the UK’s first Onset X3 last year.
