Astron cuts its suppliers to 40

Astron Group has reviewed its entire supplier base, making a huge reduction in the number of companies it deals with.

The combined Astron/Tactica business had an unwieldy supplier base that topped 500. “Over the last few months we have reduced that to just over 40. It’s been a careful approach to taking the wrinkles out of the supply chain,” said chief executive David Mitchell.

Some of the preferred suppliers have paid a fee to Astron, which Mitchell described as a contribution towards Astron’s development costs: “We are sharing the benefits of our investment in IT and procurement, including access to our paper spend.”

* On Thursday (22 August) it was announced that Wyndeham Press Group had secured a three-year, £3m contract to supply print to Astron.
