Asda ends catalogue production

Asda has stopped production of its Asda Direct catalogue and decided to focus on its digital promotions.

The 452-paged product had a minimum run of 3m copies and was produced twice a year by HH Print Management and Prinovis Liverpool.

It launched in 2008 and had initially been printed by German-based printer Tiefdruck Schwann-Bagel and managed in the UK by JPS Print Management.

A spokeswoman for Asda said the retail giant decided to stop its production in September 2009.

She added that the company would be doing some category specific publications in the future.

Asda awarded a multi-million pound contract to HH in October 2008, which included all of its print work excluding point-of-sale and labels.
