“We’ve been working hard for the past couple of months since we installed the Arizona developing new angles for the business around it, especially the higher speed and the new inks,” said director Peter Barham.
The push into acrylics has been made possible by the speed of the 660XT and the new IJC258 ink, which offers better adhesion and a flatter finish.
“Our turnaround time on acrylics has reduced from four to five days, to same-day, enabling us to take on work we would previously have had to turn away,” said Barham.
The 660XT replaced the firm’s previous flatbed, an Arizona 350GT. Its previous experience with the Arizona and Canon’s support were crucial factors in opting for another Arizona.
In addition to the 660XT the firm invested in a Zünd G3 3200 last year and has added Zünd’s Prepare it! workflow, which has been integrated with the Onyx Thrive workflow for the Arizona to make the whole production process as slick as possible.
Lastly, the firm has upgraded its packaging design software to a full version of Kasemake.
“Now we have the 660XT, the Zünd and the Kasemake software it is as quick and easy to make a bespoke box as it is to wrap a product in brown paper,” said director Peter Barham.
Graphics Works is based in Milton Keynes it employs six staff and had a turnover of £650,000 last year.
