The unit, which is based on the Arca L120 Dynamic Applicator, uses a "unique" conveyor belt that enables a variety of the Buckinghamshire firm's products to be held in place for the labels to be placed.

"We label around 200,000 separate make-up products each year and when this was carried out before by hand, it was a laborious process that was costly in terms of both labour and time," said Ariane Poole partner Ray James.

"Automising this process saved us time and money and improved the operation, with the applicator ensuring perfectly placed labels."

Norprint now intends to roll out the customised L120 system to other cosmetic, pharmaceutical and contract packaging firms.
