Arctic eyes book boost with Munken upgrade

Arctic Paper is targeting market share in book printing after revealing upgrades to its Munken paper range.

Improvements to the Munken Premium and Print grades, and a brand new certified grade, Munken Pocket Cream, were revealed at Arctic's Munkedals mill in Sweden, in front of around 60 of Europe's book publishing paper buyers.

All three grades are Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified.
Arctic Paper UK managing director Simon Ricketts (pictured) said the company was responding to customers' needs.

He said the introduction of Munken Pocket was at the right level to allow Arctic to make further impact in the book-publishing sector.
"We now have the right product portfolio to further increase our market share," Ricketts said.

Munken Pocket Cream is a wood fibre paper, with good opacity in shade. It will be available in weights from 60gsm to 80gsm.

Munken Premium in white and cream is a 100% uncoated woodfree grade, with matching bulks and is surface sized.

Munken Print, again in white and cream, is a mix of uncoated woodfree and wood containing fibre papers, with improved smoothness. It is available in weights from 70gsm to 300gsm.

All products will be available for delivery from the end of October or beginning of November.
