The Manchester-based firm saw off 10 rival bidders involved in a competitive tender process to win the contract, which will see APS produce all printed materials for the national animal charity, including direct mail, promotional leaflets, banners and posters.
The agreement signals the first time that the RSPCA has outsourced its print requirements, having previously produced its promotional materials in-house.
Under the agreement APS Group will manage the delivery of all printed products for the charity using both its own print facilities as well as external suppliers, according to whichever solution is the most cost effective. A spokeswoman said that the RSPCA expected the arrangement to generate "significant" savings.
Alethea Lavington, responsible for strategic sourcing for marketing and campaigns at the RSPCA, said: ‘We were impressed with APS Group’s ability to deliver a quality service with maximum value and efficiency, all of which were vital elements in our selection process.
"Fundamentally however, the team at APS Group were a great cultural fit for us both ethically and personally and demonstrated a real understanding of our goals as a charity. ’’
In addition APS will deploy a direct mail team, including an account executive, senior account manager and account director, to the RSPCA’s southern support centre in Southwater, Horsham.
APS client services director Simon Taylor said it was a great opportunity for the firm to secure its credentials in the charity sector.
He added: "We understand how acutely important it is for charities to be as financially efficient as possible.
"As well as guaranteeing quality across its print output we want the RSPCA to feel confident that we are providing value in everything we do, to ensure that more of the charity’s funds can be used to help its fundamental cause.’’
